I didn't have `samba' installed and it wouldn't let me proceed so
installed the 3 samba packages:
        samba-2.0.7-21ssl
        samba-common-2.0.7-21ssl
        samba-client-2.0.7-21ssl

I did share the printer but I see no provision for password there.
The win2k box Aministrator has a password however. So used that

Its a complete wash out here so far.

Looking at the `printtool add'

Names(name1|name2...) lp <== what is that con-

How did you manage a username on win95?

When I try the menu/test I get a message saying: "Test page printed
to que lp". Tailing /var/log/messages I see no activity related to
printing at all. Using `lpq'

         # lpq
        Printer: lp@reader
Queue: no printable jobs in queue
Status: job 'root@reader+662' removed at 12:08:38.638

Reader is the linux host name

Trying with `lpr -V':

# lpr -V diary
LPRng-3.6.24, Kerberos5, Copyright 1988-2000 Patrick Powell, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
sending job 'root@reader+796' to lp@localhost
connecting to 'localhost', attempt 1
connected to 'localhost'
requesting printer lp@localhost
sending control file 'cfA796reader.local.lan' to lp@localhost
completed sending 'cfA796reader.local.lan' to lp@localhost
sending data file 'dfA796reader.local.lan' to lp@localhost
completed sending 'dfA796reader.local.lan' to lp@localhost
done job 'root@reader+796' transfer to lp@localhost
[206:root]>~

Should this be getting sent to localhost? Given the hostnmae in the
printtool config?

All this and not one word shows up in syslog. Makes it hard to debug.

The lpr -D (debug) flag might be usefull here but the description of
its use in `man lpr' is so worhtless I can't figure out how to use it.
