I recently installed 6.2 on some machines and configured them for nis
logins. When a user logs in the screen flashes and jumps back to the
login screen.

in /var/log/messages is the following:

Feb 19 04:30:12 lpc13 PAM_pwdb[10565]: (gdm) session opened for user
wombat by (uid=0)
Feb 19 04:30:12 lpc13 gdm[10565]: gdm_slave_session_start: wombat on :0
Feb 19 04:30:12 lpc13 automount[419]: attempting to mount entry
/home/users1
Feb 19 04:30:18 lpc13 PAM_pwdb[10565]: (gdm) session closed for user wombat
Feb 19 04:30:18 lpc13 gdm[10565]: gdm_auth_user_remove:
/home/users1/wombat is not owned by uid 0.
Feb 19 04:30:18 lpc13 gdm[10565]: gdm_auth_user_remove: Ignoring
suspiciously looking cookie file /home/users1/wombat/.Xauthority

Suggestions on how to fix this.. all of the users can log in on console
but not to an X session.. niether can an X session be started.

suggestions? ideas? rants?

-Eric
