edit the sendmail.cf file, search for Smart Relay Host... Line should look like: DS If a relay has not been specified, change that to DS<ip or hostname of sendmail box> that is running sendmail. You should then be able to relay through it and get your mail out... mailx on RH does not have a -v for verbose that will let you watch the dialog between it and the relay, but you can send the mail in one window, and tail -f the /var/adm/syslog/mail.log, to watch it go...
