.dat files are mpeg-1 files that have been repacked for VideoCD. You can
either try to play them as-is with an mpeg-1 player, or convert them back to
pure mpeg-1 files using vcdman.

Subject: a '.dat' video player.

Hi everybody,

i have video files that are '.dat' extension.
i usually use Windows Media Player in Windows95 to
play them.
but in Linux i can't find a video player that supports
these files. i have tried 'mtv' and 'kaction!' but
none of them can play .dat files.
can anybody, please, tell me of a software to play
these files, and where i can download it ?

i also would like to know of a Linux software
encyclopedia site.

thank you in advance.
