I have installed RedHat 7.1 final on a new PC,

with a LG DVD-ROM and a Creative CD-RW (ide-scsi emulation). The hardware

has been detected correctly. Everything is working but

playing an audio cd. When I play an audio cd (xmms,gtcd,playcd,xmcd,...)

the sound does not go to the speakers, using either the LG or the creative

(I tryed setting the mixer but the result is always the same: dumb

speakers).

However, I can listen the sound using headphones directly in the drive.

Also, if I play an mp3 file the sound goes to the speakers normally.

The hardware is fine, because If I boot in windows Milleniun

both drives play audio cds with no problem.

The most interesting thing is that If I use this command

cdda2wav -B -D0,0,0 -q -e -d0 -N &

the sound of the creative goes to the speakers.

Does anyone have a clue to help me?

Thank you.

/Paulo Roma.
