(Please excuse this e-mail if this problem has been discussed. A search
of the archives came up with nothing relevant.)

I did a fresh install of 7.1 this weekend. Under 6.0, I never had any
problems doing nfs mounts from my Solaris boxes (SPARC Solaris 7);
however, under RH 7.1, the system hangs when copying files from the
Solaris server.

After much experimenting, I was able to get it to work using

-o rsize=512,wsize=512

when doing the mount. The small sizes, of course, hurt performance, but
are the only thing I could find that would solve the problem.

My Linux box is an AMD K2-266 with a 3C503 NIC; the Solaris box is a
SPARC-20 with a 10Mbps NIC.  There's a 10Mbps hub and a 10/100 switch
between the two boxes.

As I said, the default block sizes worked without problem until the move
to 7.1. Anyone have any ideas as to why this is a problem under 7.1 and
if there's a better fix? TIA.

Cheers,
Ed
