Correct me if I'm wrong here, but you probably don't need
to restart the whole network services bit, do you?  I had a
machine that due to either a flaky card, or who knows what,
would drop off line from time to time, and all that was
required was to do an 'ifconfig eth0 down' followed by a
'ifconfig eth0 up' and everything worked like a charm.
