You are better off doing an complete upgrade type install. The problems
you would run into trying to upgrade to the 7.x packages involve a LOT
of work. You can not install 7.x RPMs directly into a 6.x system. You
would have to get the source RPMs, and compile them your self. If you
are going to try and upgrade the libraries so you can use 7.x RPMs, then
you will break some 6.x apps. It can be done, but it is not for the
faint of hart, and definitly not something to try on a production
machine!
Is there some reasion you do not want to do a normal upgrade to 7.1?
