If anyone on this list knows Matthew Szulik Tell him for me I liked his
speach and thank him for taking time to stick up for just not Linux but the
ENTIRE open sourced comunitieS. I first saw open source when i was somewhere
around 10 years old or so. I had a Tandy Radio Shack Color Computer (CoCo-3)
3.
A smoking 6809e i think CPU running at 1.89mhz i believe with 128K of ram i
had to pigy back solder in, heh.. Running OS9-Level 2, also my first look at
UNIX like OS's. Unlike DOS I thought it was neat that i could be doing one
thing in one window, and another in another window. My 24HR BBS running on 2
10 meg hard drives and a 2400 baud modem running in one window, and me
messing around with C making a war dialer like the guy in War Games in
another. Unlike DOS apps i also thought it was neat that i could look at
peoples source code and figure out what they did to make things happen, i
could see inside apps and see what makes them tick. I was the kind of kid
who would take EVERYTHING appart. Was the best way to learn C also, examples
are so powerfull (i would like to see more examples in MAN pages by the way,
would REALY help newbies, namely ME).

Anyway sorry for rambling on... Kudo's to Redhat and Matthew Szulik

Long live the Penguin, who i hope never gets eaten by the Great White.

Jim.
