There is a confirmed bug in the ide-cdrom.io module that comes with 7.2
stock kernel. Recompile the module or check Redhat's site for an update.

After re-installing RH7.2,  CDRom fails to mount

# mount /mnt/cdrom/
mount: /dev/cdrom is not a valid block device


# ls -l /dev/cdrom
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root  root  8 Dec 18 19:46 cdrom -> /dev/hdc


#   vi   /etc/fstab
LABEL=/      /           ext3    defaults        1 1
LABEL=/boot  /boot       ext3    defaults        1 2
none         /dev/pts    devpts  gid=5,mode=620  0 0
none         /proc       proc    defaults        0 0
none         /dev/shm    tmpfs   defaults        0 0
/dev/hdg3    swap        swap    defaults        0 0
/dev/cdrom   /mnt/cdrom  iso9660 noauto,owner,kudzu,ro 0 0


# fdisk -l

Disk /dev/hdg: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 1245 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes

    Device Boot    Start       End    Blocks   Id  System
/dev/hdg1   *         1         6     48163+  83  Linux
/dev/hdg2             7      1213   9695227+  83  Linux

Any suggestion ?  What is the cause ?
