Mine as well. 
However, I am hoping that by now Ben's learned that starting from scratch 
when you run into trouble isn't always the best solution. In addition to 
increasing the difficulty of the task, you won't learn what the initial 
problem was. When it crops up again, history will point you toward 
another reinstall, rather then what is probably no more than a 
configuration problem of some sort. ;)
So, My suggestion:
o Take it slow.
o Diagnose the problem.
o Figure out an _appropriate_ solution.
o (HINT: rpm -e foo bar foodep bardep --nodeps is seldom appropriate)
o Make copies of the files you're about to change.
o Keep notes on what you've done.
o Repair the problem
o Take comfort in the fact that the time wasn't really wasted, you 
learned something in the process. :)

Sorry, I can't actually help with the problem at hand other than cheering
