rpm -Fvh /mnt/hda5/RH7.2-up2date/*rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
    1:up2date ########################################### [ 50%]
    2:up2date-gnome ########################################### [100%]

In 1:up2date above only 50% complete, any problem ?

What is the trick to have all rpms updated simultaneously ?

I continued to install
kernel-2.4.9-13.athlon.rpm and
kernel-headers-2.4.9-13.i386.rpm
without problem

Now I have 2 kernels for booting
(How to remove the old kernel later, not by removing each rpm)

Now it comes to the final stage to install a driver for the sound card
built-in on motherboard

rpm --rebuild /mnt/floppy/alsa-driver-0.9.0beta9-1.72.1.src.rpm
Installing /mnt/floppy/alsa-driver-0.9.0beta9-1.72.1.src.rpm
Executing(%prep): /bin/sh -e /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.37755
.....
.......
.........
checking whether gcc needs -traditional... no
checking for current directory... /usr/src/redhat/BUILD/alsa-driver-0.9.0beta9
checking for directory with kernel source... /usr/src/linux-2.4
checking for kernel version... The file
/usr/src/linux-2.4/include/linux/version.h does not exist.
Please, install the package with full kernel sources for your distribution
or use --with-kernel=dir option to specify another directory with kernel
sources (default is /usr/src/linux).
error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.44522 (%build)

RPM build errors:
Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.44522 (%build)

Do I need to install the kernel-source to proceed ?

Thanks

B.R.
Stephen
