Stephen, I ran into the same problem with the following:
Transcend Motherboard Athlon 1Ghz 128 MB RAM Trident Video Card Linksys Etherfast 10/100 Lan Card Maxtor 40GB IDE drive ....but I finally got it to work after getting the installation to format all of my partitions (used for linux) in the ext3 filesystem type, instead of ext2. It is still a little sluggish if I have X running and all that, but other than that, if it is just run from a command prompt, everything is fine. Just for clairity, I am assuming you're installing RH 7.2. Hope this helps, Kevin >From: "Stephen Berg" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >To: "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Subject: Install problem >Date: Fri, 14 Dec 2001 21:20:02 -0600 > >I just did an install to a new system: > >Athlon 1.3GHz >Tyan motherboard >512MB RAM >4MB AGP video (STB) >Adaptec SCSI (2x8GB and a CDROM) >80GB IDE drive >Linksys LNE100TX V4.1 NIC > >The install went fine. > >Every time I've tried to boot the system I get kernel panics. >Unfortunately they seem to be happening at different points in the >boot up process.
