and this meshes nicely with the excerpt i pointed out from the 
original washington post article (linked from linuxtoday.com),
which i repeat:

  "An even greater challenge to Microsoft would be for AOL Time Warner
to develop a rival operating system that works exclusively with the
media giant's own Internet service provider, its Web browser or
proprietary content."

  Aside from the absurdity of suggesting that AOL Time Warner would
"develop" this operating system (as if it doesn't exist already),
i shudder to think about the GPL implications of trying to develop
proprietary software and bolt it onto red hat.  the mind reels just
trying to figure out how this would work.
