I've tried switching the cables now but it didn't help, so I'm replacing the hard drive. It seems like there are bad areas on the disk. When copying files from the old to the new, it gets stuck and keeps resetting ide0 over and over on some files.
Thanks for the tip though, would've been very annoying if I had bought a new drive and then found it did the same thing as the old one because of the cables.
