wanting to keep my conscience happy, i'm trying to set a up a personal
up2date server that i can access from a single location to keep all of my
linux boxes current. here are the steps that i've worked out in my brain
that i *think* should do what i want... if anyone can fill me in on any
gaps in my strategy, please lemme know:

1. set up an ftp server on one box that's visible to the world.
i'm think i'd use proftpd and not allow annonymous logins.
   - do i need to run anything special?
or will a plain ftp server do?

2. on the same server, write a script that checks my nearest
mirror for new rpms and downloads _all_ rpms i don't have yet.
   - can i just do this with ncfptget?
   - how do i locate the nearest server with most recent updates?

3. configure up2date on each client to use my server instead
   of redhat's update server.
   - how?

thanks for the help people
if there's a howto out there i'd really appreciate a link as well
