>From your samba server box type the following:

smbclient -L <netbiosname>

where <netbiosname> is the name you gave your server in smb.conf.  If it
cannot connect... make sure you have the server started.  If the services
are started then there is something wrong with your configuration.  Without
seeing the file it is hard to tell what it might be.
