I did some more checking on this and I found that the "scsi_reset_provider", left undefined in sg.o, is defined in scsi_mod.o.
And scsi_mod.o is loaded (lsmod shows this). Would there be an issue with my system because I took a kernel-source*.rpm package from the 7.3 updates and built it on an otherwise standard 7.2 system? I didn't really want to upgrade yet, but it's been suggested that 2.4.18 may fix a problem I have with my USB sub system...
