Hi, I'm new to linux and need help with the following before I go mad!

I ran the make menuconfig command to enable the networking options for using iptables.
I saved the kernel configuration.
Now when I do a make dep, I get the following error:

Saving your kernel configuration...*** End of Linux kernel configuration.*** Check the

top-level Makefile for additional configuration.*** Next, you must run 'make

modversions.h -print` > .hdepend make: *** [dep-files] Error 135

Can someone please help me ?!  The version of gcc is 2.96  and the kernel is 2.4.7.10 and was bought as a package. I've reinstalled it so many times at this stage and am still getting the above error.

Thanks
Lisa Ryan
