The customer dictated that Red Hat 6.2 be used, therefore we don't have a choice in the manner. I think life would be easier using 6.2, but we're not allowed.

Also, does anyone have any idea as to how much longer RedHat is going to release security updates for 6.2? RedHat seems to orphan release fairly quickly -- and this is an older release. Red Hat's answer was that Red Hat 6.2 will ***NOT*** support a Pentium IV. They would have to modify the ISO a little to get it to work. The main problem appears to be due to the installation program they are using. I've heard of people installing Red Hat 6.2 on a Pentium 3 or lower machine and then transporting the hard drive with Red Hat 6.2 to a Pentium IV machine. I have never seen this working in person though, it's simply what I've read. My company has many dual Pentium IV servers running Red Hat 6.2. We were forced to use a customized version of Red Hat 6.2 with a newer kernel and updated installer. I've heard that replacing the installer is enough to get 6.2 up and running. -----Original Message----- From: Christopher Hoffman [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, July 24, 2002 4:04 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: Redhat 6.2 on P4 You can install 6.2 on any Intel based P1, P2, P3, P4 systems and any AMD system Thanks, Christopher Hoffman Computer Technician Logical Computer Solutions 5444 Six Forks Road Raleigh, NC 27609 919-841-9074 (V) 919-870-0951 (F) -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of Jeff Graves Sent: Wednesday, July 24, 2002 12:48 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: Redhat 6.2 on P4 Should be...
