Folks:

I would like to get some assistance on a problem I have been
working through for a couple of weeks now. I am trying to
upgrade a Tyan BX S1832DL Tiger 100 (Intel 440BX AGPset)
based system from 7.2 to 7.3 I get a kernel panic while the
installation is "Finding packages".

I was originally upgrading from 6.0 to 7.3 but when this failed
due to this kernel panic I dropped back to upgrading to 7.2
which I was able to complete successfully.

What I think would be useful would be to capture and provide
the virtual screen output from v3 and v4 preceding the panic.
However, I do not know how to do that.

When the panic occurs I know of no way to get the data off the
screen (other than typing it), but more importantly I no of know
way to capture any of the data that has scrolled off of the screen.

Can anyone provide me pointers to how I can get to the
information that is displayed on these virtual consoles during
installation/upgrade of 7.3?

Thanks!

mjp

p.s. I can provide more details on my software/hardware
configuration, but I would first like to figure out how to grab
the virtual console data information unless someone else has
a better way to debugging what is causing this kernel panic.

p.s.s. I posted this query on the redhat-install-list over the
weekend and received no reply which is why I am trying
these lists today.
