Hrmmm? That tells you only that you are not using the ext3 capabilities of 
the kernel, it does nothing to determine if the kernel is _capable_ of 
doing ext3.

[root@tuxfan root]# echo your kernel has `grep -q ext3 /proc/filesystems 
|| echo no` ext3 support
your kernel has no ext3 support
[root@tuxfan root]#
[root@tuxfan root]# modprobe ext3
[root@tuxfan root]#
[root@tuxfan root]# echo your kernel has `grep -q ext3 /proc/filesystems 
|| echo no` ext3 support
your kernel has ext3 support
