Hi Which Network card u r using ? normally this error comes only after u have a improper driver or lancard. I think u can change the Network card to REALTEC 8139 chipset. Secondly check whether on linux only if u can ping urself i.e. ping self if u can't than ur tcp/ip protocol is not loaded.
