!.) Open an editor as root find the /etc/X11/XF86Config file
2.) find the pointer section.
3.) Uncomment the line ZAxisMapping (delete the # at the beginning of the
line).
4.) restart Xserver (If your not sure how to do this then just reboot).
5.) Log back in as user and try it.
This is how I got mine to work under RedHat 7.2 with a PS/2 Intellimouse.
