It would be better to configure the RAID in hardware ala Dell PERC BIOS.
See if Compaq supports hardware RAID, they probably do.

Compaq's are ok, kinda pricey imho.  Look at Dells and IBMs, too, they can 
come pre-installed with RedHat w/ whatever RAID level you like.
Btw, $9,000 is PLENTY of dinero for this.

If it's done in hardware, there's nothing to set up in Linux (linux just 
sees it as a big drive for you to partition).
