try  lsattr /bin/login  and  make  sure  it is  -----------
 n and  read   some  man pages  on  lsattr  ...  it  i s  what i  was told
to  do .. i also had the  same  problem   and   please  let me  know  if it
works  out  fine  !!!!!
i  am  yet to  use  the lsattr..
