I obtained a type of similar problem here. Seems that your printer
possesses a type of print-server and you are trying to order using
another type.

Verify which the configuration of the print-server of your printer and
which you are using in your LINUX box. Both have to be identical.

Got a Savin Digital copier that I want to print to using LPD on RH 7.3
My
box is called LINUX. LPR is the network neighborhood name for the
printer. I
set my host file so:

127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost LINUX
192.168.70.51 LPR LPR

But everytime I try to test it either with the KDE Print Manager or
using the
command
"lpr -Plp_SAVIN filename I get:

Status Information:
sending job to 'root@localhost+879' to lp_SAVN@localhost
        connecting to localhost, attempt 1
cannot open connection to localhost - No such file or directory
Make
sure the remote host supports the LPD protocol

My printcap file files has this:

lp_savin:\
        :sd=/var/spool/lpd/LPR:\
        :mx#0:\
        :sh:\
        :rm=LPR:\
        :mc=0:\
        :if=/usr/share/linux_filters/LPR.filter:\
        :lpd_bounce=true:\
        :rp=PORT1:

So can someone help me out here? This is in a W2K environment.
