If you know approximately what size the file was you could use a tool
like e2undel (which uses debugfs), as long as the inode containing the
file hasn't been overwritten with new data.

Check it out at http://e2undel.sourceforge.net/  I have used it to
recover files and it works quite well.

if you're using a gui like kde
then the file might be in the trash
if not, and you used "rm", not likeley
