I updated the Kernel to no avail. fsck'd the ext3 filesystem. I still have this problem.

I had similar problems until I moved to 2.4.19 Also force an fsck of your filesystem it "could" be that you have a problem (unlikely) Ed -----Original Message----- From: Brent S. I am having problems using tar and my 4mm tape drive. When I attempt a tar to tape, the system will freeze after a random amount of time or MB backed up. There is nothing I can do except, reboot the system. There are no errors logged anywhere on the system. I have done ran the tar job while watching top in another session, and right before it freezes, the tar CPU usage starts to climb. I installed the latest version of tar, but it also has the same problems. Top also reports that my 192MB RAM system isn't using any of its 900MB swap. I'm not sure if that is an issue though. Most of the time the server sits at .3-.5 load. Any Ideas and or help would be greatly appreciated. ______________________________________ This email was sent using Morian Mail. http://cptmorian.homelinux.net -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:redhat-list-request@;redhat.com?subject=unsubscribe https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
