Super Slow Internet Connection

Hi, I've recently installed linux 8.0 on my machine and there is dual boot between linux and windows. I have a 3com 3C905C-TX ethernet card in my machine. If i boot up with linux, i can connect to the Internet but browsing websites is incredibly slow. The weird thing is that if I use ping, I get fairly fast results that I should be getting.   And when I saw browsing the web is slow, i mean ssssssllllooooowwwwwwwww.....   here's some quick info about the network i have. Cable Internet there are multiple PCs connected to a hub. the Cable Modem is connected to this same hub. Browsing the internet works just fine under windows.   does anyone know what I can should do?   please help!
