  Try 'xvidtune'. It comes as part of the XFree86-4.0.1-1.rpm on my
RH7.0 distribution. 
It allows you to 'tweek' your display settings - left, right, wider,
taller, etc. Set your Windows display, start  X in Linux, and (as
root) run xvidtune. Save your settings. Done.
