Hello,

after having upgraded my system to RedHat 8.0 + KDE 3.0.5 I'm having lots of
problems with fonts:

 - No Adobe fonts appear in the KDE font control module anymore, although the
module insists on using "Helvetica 12" for window titles.

 - The fonts used by KDE applications (Luxi Sans I guess) are ok but Xemacs
 is completely messed up (huge fonts for menus, ugly font for text, etc). I
 can't seem to get the same font non-KDE apps as for KDE apps.

 - The /etc/X11/fs/config file asks for a "cyrillic" directory that doesn't
exist on my system (by the way what does these ":unscaled" mean?)

catalogue = /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc:unscaled,
       /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi:unscaled,
       /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi:unscaled,
       /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc,
       /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1,
       /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo,
       /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/cyrillic,
       ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
       /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF,
       /usr/share/fonts/default/Type1

- the /etc/sysconfig/i18n file sets
LANG="en_US.UTF-8"
which gives horrendous results with man pages e.g.

Since I found no messages about others having similar problems I guess I
screwed up something during the install, but I have no idea what to do now.

Does anyone have some hints here?

Thank you very much!
Christian Roche
