-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Noticed today on:
https://www.redhat.com/apps/support/errata/ That Red Hat is announcing an "end of life" to each of their versions as far as Errata support is concerned. Excerpt: +++++++++++++ Red Hat Linux Advanced Server -- Red Hat will provide provide proactive errata maintenance for Red Hat Linux Advanced Server for a period of at least three years from the date of initial release. Red Hat Linux -- Beginning with the 8.0 release, Red Hat will provide errata maintenance for at least 12 months from the date of initial release. At certain times, Red Hat may extend errata maintenance for certain popular releases of the operating system. End of Life dates for errata maintenance for currently supported products are listed below: ~ Red Hat Linux Advanced Server 2.1 May 31, 2005 ~ Red Hat Linux 8.0 (Psyche) December 31, 2003 ~ Red Hat Linux 7.3 (Valhalla) December 31, 2003 ~ Red Hat Linux 7.2 (Enigma) December 31, 2003 ~ Red Hat Linux 7.1 (Seawolf) December 31, 2003 ~ Red Hat Linux 7.0 (Guinness) March 31, 2003 ~ Red Hat Linux 6.2 (Zoot) March 31, 2003 +++++++++++++ How likely is it that Red Hat will stick to these dates? Is this an effort to get larger business to adopt Advanced Server? I'd certainly like to see longer support for 7.3 and 8.0 myself since I just got most of our servers running on these two versions.
