I'm afraid I don't really understand what you're talking about.
You need the alsa-driver rpm and the alsa-kernel that matches the kernel
you're currently running. Install these at the same time then install
the alsa-lib and alsa-utils rpms.

Yup. Exactly what the people using Nvidia's driver go through when RH
issues an updated kernel.
