G'day All,
I currently run a RH5 linux box on my LAN. When setup this RH5 box
was not my default gateway (I have semi-permanent modem link). I am
now reconfiguring my LAN so that this RH5 box will be the gateway
machine and will also do routing between my LAN and the internet.

So far I have got the PPP side of things working as best I can.
Testing is a tad limited by the fact that default routes on the box
still go out over my existing gateway/router.

What I would like to do now is change the default route so that the
ppp link on the RH5 box is the default route for the RH5 box (I'll
change the rest of the LAN once I know that's working). Can someone
point out which files I need to alter to make this change take place?

I should add that I do not have X installed or running on this
particular computer so all changes have to take place within the
context of the standard shell. i.e. I can't just run netcfg as the
manual tells me to.

As a subsidiary to this, I would like to have this ppp connection be
established automatically on boot and re-established on link failure
(modem dropout or whatever). From research I've done so far it would
seem that diald is the package to use for this. Any comments on that
selection?

Lastly, any pointers to information on getting diald working in a RH5
environment?

Thanks, Dave.
