Folks, Am trying to get my system(dual boot Win95/Redhat 4.20 connected to my isp(Compuserve). Chat script work fine, get to the point where ppp0 is pointed to /dev/modem, then after 2 minutes, the connection is hung up, from the Compuserve end I believe. Have no problem with the Win95 end of things(using Win95 dial-up networking). Have spent several months on this, as time allows, and still no resolution. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Compuserve help has been hopeless, and suggestions from the Unix forum have been tried to no avail. Tested the connections using ping, but get the target not reachable message. Ifconfig only gives me the loopback route being configured. Thanks a bunch in advance Steve ------ from /var/log/messages ----------------------------------- Jun 1 20:23:52 Amontilado pppd[488]: pppd 2.2.0 started by root, uid 0 Jun 1 20:23:53 Amontilado chat[489]: abort on (NO CARRIER) Jun 1 20:23:53 Amontilado chat[489]: abort on (BUSY) Jun 1 20:23:53 Amontilado chat[489]: abort on (ERROR) Jun 1 20:23:53 Amontilado chat[489]: abort on (DELAY) Jun 1 20:23:53 Amontilado chat[489]: send (ATS7=60S19=20L0M1&M4&K1&H1&R2&I0B0X4^M) Jun 1 20:23:54 Amontilado chat[489]: expect (OK) Jun 1 20:23:54 Amontilado chat[489]: ATS7=60S19=20L0M1&M4&K1&H1&R2&I0B0X4^M^M Jun 1 20:23:54 Amontilado chat[489]: OK -- got it Jun 1 20:23:54 Amontilado chat[489]: send (ATDT3525182^M) Jun 1 20:23:54 Amontilado chat[489]: timeout set to 60 seconds Jun 1 20:23:54 Amontilado chat[489]: expect (BIS) Jun 1 20:23:54 Amontilado chat[489]: ^M Jun 1 20:24:09 Amontilado chat[489]: ATDT3525182^M^M Jun 1 20:24:09 Amontilado chat[489]: CONNECT 9600/ARQ/V32/LAPM/V42BIS -- got it Jun 1 20:24:09 Amontilado chat[489]: send (^M) Jun 1 20:24:09 Amontilado chat[489]: timeout set to 120 seconds Jun 1 20:24:09 Amontilado chat[489]: expect (ame:) Jun 1 20:24:09 Amontilado chat[489]: ^M Jun 1 20:24:10 Amontilado last message repeated 2 times Jun 1 20:24:10 Amontilado chat[489]: 0042JMX^M Jun 1 20:24:10 Amontilado chat[489]: ^M Jun 1 20:24:10 Amontilado chat[489]: Host Name: -- got it Jun 1 20:24:10 Amontilado chat[489]: send (cis^M) Jun 1 20:24:10 Amontilado chat[489]: timeout set to 120 seconds Jun 1 20:24:10 Amontilado chat[489]: expect (ID:) Jun 1 20:24:10 Amontilado chat[489]: CIS^M Jun 1 20:24:10 Amontilado chat[489]: ^M Jun 1 20:24:10 Amontilado chat[489]: User ID: -- got it Jun 1 20:24:10 Amontilado chat[489]: send (70671,1675/GO:PPPCONNECT^M) Jun 1 20:24:10 Amontilado chat[489]: expect (word:) Jun 1 20:24:11 Amontilado chat[489]: 70671,1675/GO:PPPCONNECT^M Jun 1 20:24:11 Amontilado chat[489]: Password: -- got it Jun 1 20:24:11 Amontilado chat[489]: send (yeah*right^M) Jun 1 20:24:12 Amontilado pppd[488]: Serial connection established.
