Do you know what com port it's on?

COM1 = /dev/ttyS0
COM2 = /dev/ttyS1
COM3 = /dev/ttyS2
COM4 = /dev/ttyS3

Find which com port it's plugged into, then most software will use /dev/modem
You can make the /dev/modem link by doing this
ln -s /dev/ttyS0 /dev/modem   if your using COM1
