On standard Windows XP you can go to Start->Programs->Accessories/Zubehör->System Programs->Character Map/Zeichentabelle and then pick the character you want and copy it to the clipboard then paste it into the text (whew). Or I could probably load the Logitech driver for my keyboard and define some function key for eg. å or Å. Or there's probably some program somewhere I could download. But at the moment for RN I just copy the character or word containing the character from somewhere else and now I have it in RN (but can't search for it) :-) .

RN is the only app I have where the "Alt-trick" (a standard Windows feature) doesn't work, so I assume it's due to some feature of webkit? No big deal, was just wondering.

Thanks, Bob

Under Ubuntu when I right-click into the main text field I get a context menu containing an entry "Inserting options" with some subitems that look promising for the task ;) Do you have that on Windows too?
The Alt-trick does not work in Thunderbird under Linux either.

I have a German keyboard and can enter ü, ö, ä etc. normally. But sometimes I need to write the Swedish character å or Å, which I've typed here in Thunderbird with Alt-0229 and Alt-0197 respectively using the numeric keypad. This does not work in RedNotebook, the sequences are ignored. I've toggled the num key, it makes no difference.
