While Dice-K gets all the vitriol, our "third No. 1" pitcher, John Lackey
continues to be mediocre.

2010 -- 4.87 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, 46-68 BB/K in 113 innings.
2009 -- 3.83 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 47-139 BB/K in 176.1 IP
2008 -- 3.75 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 40-130 BB/K in 163.1 IP
2007 -- 3.01 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 52-179 BB/K in 224 IP

His walks are way up, just one away from last year's full-season total, but
his strikeouts are way down ... and no one with a 1.60 WHIP deserves a
winning record. He's benefited from some great offensive support, but is
there some point where we really start to worry about him? Sure, he's been
better than Beckett (7.29 ERA, 1.66 WHIP), but that's not saying much.

Just for comparison, the despised Matsuzaka is at 4.71 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, 35-54
BB/K in 65 innings.
