I'm not crazy about the idea of the 5th team / second wildcard in each league, personally. But the 5-team deal would certainly ensure that the best 5 teams from each league are in the play-offs. But may not be a dramatic change - if this system had been in place last year, the playoff teams would have been - AL Rays Yankees Twins Rangers Sox NL Phillies Giants Braves Reds Padres Be interesting to see how they slot teams with identical records (like Braves - Reds in 2010).
