How do you know he can't contribute? At some point the guy is going to be healed and ready to throw. Why can't this be the time? And even if he's 80%, I'll take an 80% Buchholtz over just about anybody else in the bullpen, save maybe Aceves and Pap.

I don't think he can contribute. If you're third best reliever is a guy who hasn't pitched in more than half a season than you're screwed anyway. He's a quality pitcher that they have been nursing all summer. If he can come back and contribute then why not? He hasn't faced an actual batter in since JUNE. He's coming back from a back injury, and he's going to ride in on the white horse and save the bullpen? C'mon, if we don't have anyone other than Aceves and Papelbon than we've got zero chance in the playoffs. Lester sucks. Beckett sucks. Lackey sucks. Make those guys shape up before risking Buchholz. Just shut him down. On Wed, Sep 28, 2011 at 11:22 AM, Dan DiBiase <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> wrote: So what should the Sox do with him the next day or two? Should he be available in the BP to pitch today, or (if we get there) tomorrow? Or start tomorrows game (IWGT)? Seems like he could be activated and pitch but sounds like mixed messages coming out of the Sox.
