The inevitable stories about Steve Jobs as taskmaster are starting to appear
(not that they hadn't appeared when he was alive) and they got me thinking
about Francona.

I've come to the conclusion that the "gentle leader" model of management has
its limits when it comes to excellence. I think that excellent must be
demanded by both the organization and the management. I think that the Red
Sox let themselves become fat and lazy, gorging on an unbroken string of
sold-out games and adoring fans across the nation.

One thing I've never heard about the Yankees is that they are complacent.
