Yeah, I was thinking of adding that conspiracy theory, but that strikes me as bogus ... that they would hire Valentine as a placeholder.
That said I'm sure it entered into the discussion. I think it's more likely that Valentine really didn't have any leverage if he wanted to manage again and manage a good team.
