This sad start got me thinking back to the late 80s when the Sox shook the team up after weak early start. I think the Sox sent down Sam Horn, brought up Pat Dodson and made some other whole sale changes. I couldn't find the details.
I did, however, find a few Google newspaper links that are just treasures. The one article talks about the plethora of AAA talent the Sox had in 1987. Remarkable when you think about it.....the Sox had an entirely home grown team at some point. Marzano Benzinger Reed Valentin Cooper Greenwell Burks Romine? Not sure I'm remembering correctly. I might be conflating some eras. http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1928&dat=19870902&id=UgcgAAAAIBAJ&sjid=6WQFAAAAIBAJ&pg=1138,320526 -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Red Sox Citizens" group.
