The Can was high on cocaine during most of his career. Maybe our guys should
quit the chicken and beer and go with the good stuff.

Yup. That would give us a Clemens, Hurst, and Boyd.

Or if Beckett and Lester pitched to their career norms. And if Buchholz could

The Sox have clearly developed a system for producing position players. They
clearly don't know how to coach starters or get them to perform consistently.

This would be an unstoppable team with the equivalent of Clemens, Hurst, Boyd,
Nipper, Seaver.

So what did we learn from the first-half, which sees the Sox as a mediocre
team, finishing exactly where they started?

1) Bobby V can't turn water into wine unless it's the bullpen.
2) The Sox have an awfully good AAAA roster.
3) Jacoby Ellsbury heals v e r y s l o w l y.
4) Big Papi can still play.
5) The 'Big 3' starters have very little sense of pride or motivation.
Certainly not an 'ace' attitude among them.
6) The Sox do have some 'younger' players that can play - Middlebrooks, Kalish,
Nava (not young but he can still play)
7) We won't see the 'starting' outfield of Crawford/Ellsbury/Rossweeney until
August. And by then it may be too late.
