should be able to win 50% of our games with the talent on the field."
I think the position players are trying, largely because most of them are
fighting their own relegation battle. Look at yesterday's lineup in terms
of job security:

*Inglesias* -- Trying to stay in the majors
*Dice-K* -- Needs work next year
Pedroia was the only player on the team whose not playing for personal
money right now, and yet he's the only player getting credit for playing
hard.
I suspect the only "more thing going on here" is that these guys are not
very good baseball players.
