Ah, but can Swisher play in Boston? He clearly can't handle criticism. And
all the newspaper people tell me that the Red Sox HAVE to be sure free
agents can play in Boston (as if that's a novel idea.)

As for Youk, I admit I didn't look at his stats. But Ross' OPS was only
.725 when the Sox signed him. That's why he was inexpensive. (and he barely
cracked .800 last year.)

Seems to me, Youk is the kind of player we'll need as a stop gap until the
sox can develop/sign/acquire genuine talents.

The two things I wonder about are: Youk's interest and Youk's standing
among the current players.

BTW, listened to the John Farrell press conference. Very impressed. He came
off as professional, deliberate, articulate and intelligent. I'm on board.
