I like that line-up. Could mean that Pedroia will come to bat with a lot of
first-and-third situations..... So could be a lot of
1-0 leads early in Sox games this year....

If healthy, Kalish platoons with Gomes and gives the Sox one of their few lefty
bats.

It's a little high for Victorino, but $13 million/year -- the new free agent
tender level -- seems to be the going rate for starting players. That's what
Big Papi got, that's what Torii Hunter got. Plays much better defense than
Ross, runs well and he can legitimately play CF when Ellsbury gets hurt. Not
exciting, but competent. Swisher would have been better, but would have cost
the draft pick. He's probably looking for more money and at least four years.

Victorino
Ellsbury
Pedroia
Ortiz
Napoli
Middlebrooks
Kalish/Gomes
Lavarnway
Iglesias

If you think Lavarnway will hit, that lineup's only got one gaping hole, and
the defense should be fairly good. Now for a pitcher ...

3 years, $39 million seems to be the Sox number this year, since both Napoli
