I thought the same thing until I saw them working in the most killer looking reef tank
I had ever seen. I made the same comments that I am hearing in this thread and was
suprised to hear the
reply. His had been working non stop for three months. The newer power sweeps have a
different intake that is less likely to clog. He also went into depth on the mechanics
of the sweep and how it
was more difficult for it to go one way than the other. He used the flap that comes
with the kit to his advantage. He used it in such a manner that it helped it on the
weak sweep return. I got my
old abandoned ones out of storage and they have been working ever since. Go figure.
