Ever since I set up my 125 my lights have always sat directly on top of the
tank. I used a glass canopy to protect the lights from making contact with
the water. After seeing and reading about suspending the lights I decided to
suspend the lights today. I removed the glass and suspended the lights about
seven inches from the water surface. The tank now seems brighter. The light
now floods the whole tank all the way to the top and even along the back
wall. The lights I am using are PC lights with a total of 330 watts. 110
watts being 7100k and 220 being 9325k. I didn't use a 20 watt NO light strip
that used to sit in the back of the tank, but I don't think it made much of
a difference.

Knowing that what light humans see and what corals actually use did I do a
good thing? Glass absorbs some of the light right? And what about the light
that now floods the room that the tank is in....is that a waste or was it
also being wasted before by just going through the walls of the tank?
